Being able to adjust the loft allows golfers to achieve launch angles and spin rates that are suited well to the way that they deliver the club.
When you adjust a hosel to increase loft, you are actually closing the face fractionally.
Conversely when you reduce loft you are open the face slightly.
Does increasing loft close the face?
Yes, loft affects bias somewhat. If you loft up you will increase the draw. If you loft down you will decrease the draw. In other words if I set my 10.5 driver to +1 or 11.5 then I slightly close the face and increase draw bias.
Does changing loft change face angle?
The one thing to keep in mind here is that as you reposition the face angle at setup with your driver, you also change the actual loft angle. In other words for every degree you hold the face closed you also decrease the loft by the same amount. Conversely, if you roll the face open you will increase the loft.
Is a higher loft driver better?
Club Loft. In general, the slower the swing or club speed, the higher the loft of the driver to optimize both carry and roll. Most drivers come in degrees of loft from 8.5 to 16. Now, if you could increase the loft to 12.4 degrees, your total distance would increase to 293 yards, an improvement of 15 yards.
Does adding loft to driver add spin?
To add more Spin Loft, simply use a higher-lofted club. So if you are hitting the ball sideways, a higher-lofted club will most likely help you will find more fairways.
